Isola Riding Academy Camp Itinerary

 

MONDAY
9:00 Check-in and meet the other campers and your counselors.

Safety lecture on camper behavior around horses. Get your horse assigned for the week. 

9:30 Learn how to properly groom and tack your horse, and how to handle them on the ground.

10:15 Riding lesson! You will learn the basics of position, balance, and how to control the horse while mounted.

11:30 Untack and learn how to care for the horse after a ride.

12:00 Lunch break, with horse-themed arts and crafts.

12:45 Feed the horses their lunch while learning more about horse care, responsibility, and horsemanship. 

2:00 Done for the day.

 

TUESDAY

9:00 Arrive and get the horses you will work with for the day.  

9:30 Continue learning about groundwork by guiding your horse through obstacles and understanding how to make a horse follow your directions. 

10:15 Learn how to clean and properly prepare your tack for your lessons.

10:30 Riding Lesson; continue improving your skills.

11:30 Untack, clean up.

12:00 Lunch break with horse-themed arts and crafts.

12:45 Feed the horses their lunch while learning more about horse care, responsibility, and horsemanship.

2:00 Done for the day.

 

WEDNESDAY

9:00 Arrive and get the horses you will work with for the day.
9:30 Continue improving the groundwork and grooming, tacking the horse in preparation for the ride.

10:30 Trail ride; Learn safe practices and how to control your horse out of the arena.

11:30 Untack, clean up.

12:00 Lunch break with horse-themed arts and crafts.

12:45 Feed the horses their lunch while learning more about horse care, responsibility, and horsemanship.

2:00 Done for the day.

 

THURSDAY
9:00 Arrive and get the horses you will work with for the day. 

10:30 Discussion on preparing and riding in a horse show. 

Riding lesson with a focus on practice and preparing for the Friday show.

11:30 Untack, clean up.

12:00 Lunch break, with horse show discussion about show etiquette and sportsmanship.

12:45 Feed the horses their lunch while learning more about horse care, responsibility, and horsemanship.

2:00 Done for the day.

 

FRIDAY HORSE SHOW DAY!
9:00 Arrive and get the horses you will work with for the day. 

PREPARE YOUR HORSE AND TACK for the show.

11:30 Lunch 

12:00 HORSE SHOW Friends and family welcome, (while staying socially distanced) to have a wonderful time while campers show off their new horsemanship skills.

1:30 Untack and care of the horses, then put them away.

2:00 Done for the session
